Abstract

This Regulation prescribes the procedures by which foreign natural persons and legal persons conduct commercial fishing in the territorial waters and exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Latvia and in the Gulf of Riga, as well as prescribes the conditions for surveys and protection of commercial fish resources. The document consists of IX Sections that contain 35 Articles and 5 Annexes. Section I lays down the general provisions. Section II determines obligations of fishermen. Section III lays down the provisions for the use of fishing gear. Section IV establishes specifications and allowed quantity of fishing gear. Section V establishes fishing prohibition periods and areas. Section VI establishes minimum lengths of fish and amount of by-catch. Section VII determines rights and duties of the board of fisheries and rights and duties of fishery management authorities. Section VIII establishes liability for failure to comply with this regulation. Section IX lays down the transitional provisions.
