The Plan aims at: (a) providing planning controls for the local government area of Botany; (b) rationalising and simplifying zoning and development controls; (c) providing direction and guidance to the community concerning desired growth and change in the local government area of Botany and the manner in which growth and change are proposed to be managed. Different objectives of the plan are specified in relation to the following matters: (a) form and function of the local government area of Botany; (b) residential development; (c) retailing and commerce; (d) industry; (e) traffic and transport; (f) environment, landscape and heritage; (g) tourism, and recreational and community services and facilities; (h) greenhouse effect. The land to which the Plan applies is divided into zones, as provided for in Part 2.
