This Resolution shall enter into force on the date of its publication.
Abstract

This National Sanitary Surveillance Board Resolution approves the Technical Regulation - General Criteria and Classification of Materials for Packaging and Equipment in Contact with Food. This Technical Regulation applies to packaging and equipment that come into direct contact with food during its production, processing, storage, distribution, commercialization and consumption. The Regulation does not include materials that form a unit with food and are consumed with them. Packaging and equipment in direct contact with food shall be manufactured in accordance with good manufacturing practice so that food may not becoming toxic or contaminated because of components in quantities that exceed the established total, such that: a) may pose a risk to human health; b) result in an unacceptable modification in the composition of the food or its characteristics. Annex I Annex II specifies General Criteria for Adhesives Used in the Manufacture of Packaging and Equipment Destined to being in Direct Contact with Food.
