Article 2 lays down provisions relating to surface description and demarcation of the National Park. In particular, the purpose of the National Park is to: 1) safeguarde the action of natural environmental forces and the dynamics of communities largely free from human interventions; 2) protect the natural and semi-natural ecosystems and to preserve and further develop the species of indigenous flora and fauna; 3) maintain and promote the quality of the – for the Northern Black Forest characteristic – mixed woodlands and moorelands.
