Abstract

The present Rules set out the minimum measures to be applied as regards the control of diseases affecting bivalve molluscs. All farms rearing bivalve molluscs in Malta shall be registered by the official service and shall keep detailed records of live bivalve molluscs entering and leaving the farm. Moreover, a monitoring and sampling programme shall be implemented in farms, farming areas and harvested natural beds, in order to observe whether there is an abnormal mortality. Rule 4 sets out the measures to be taken in case the presence of diseases is suspected.
