Abstract

These Regulations implement provisions of the Biosafety Act, especially with regard to the application for and granting of licences for general release of genetically modified organisms and administration. The Regulations establish the National Biosafety Regulatory Committee. The Committe shall, among other things: (a) evaluate all applications concerning or related to genetically modified organisms and products thereof and make recommendations to the Minister in that regard; (b) advise, on request or of its own accord, the Minister on matters concerning genetic modification of organisms as specified in these Regulations.
