The Act seeks to add certain missing definitions and states that two seats must be reserved for the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, two seats for the Backward Classes and two seats for the Extremely Backward Classes on the Board of every Co-operative Society and lists out certain exemptions to this mandatory reservation clause. Additionally, the Act introduces a new chapter which lays down the procedure for annual general meetings and annual returns of the co-operative societies.
