Abstract

The present Law lays down provisions relating to environmental impact assessment in the Land Berlin. The purpose of the Law is to ensure that assessment of environmental impact shall be carried out efficiently so that an early intervention shall be effective. The text consists of 11 sections as follows: Purpose of the Law (1); Defintioin of terms (2); Obligation of environmental impact assessment for projects, conditions and implementation (3); Obligation of strategic environmental impact assessment for plans and programmes, conditions, implementation and survey (4); Provisions on implementation (5); Participation of experts (6); Transitional provisions (7); Entry into force (11). Two Annexes are enclosed.
