The functions of the BELTRAIDE are to develop, promote and facilitate local and foreign investment including incentive programmes and to unfetter the export potential of local business to increase foreign exchange, employment, skills development or transfer, technology and government revenue. Part III lays down rules for the appointment, powers and functions of the Board of Directors which comprises of three public sector representatives from among tourism, agriculture, education, energy, investment, trade or commerce, and natural resources or the environment sectors. The BELTRAIDE shall be exempt from the payment of income tax, property tax, import duty and any other tax or impost levied by the Government or a local authority.
