Abstract This Plan regulates commercial and sport fishing for barramundi. The Minister may, from time to time by notice in the Gazette, establish a barramundi licence buy-back scheme whereby a barramundi licensee, in exchange for a determined consideration, transfers or surrenders to the Territory all or any units of gillnetting specified on the licence. A barramundi licensee shall fish for barramundi under a barramundi licence only during the open season and within an established fishing area (arts. 8 and 9).
