Abstract This Act establishes the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute. In order to fulfill the objectives of this Act, the functions of the Institute shall be as follows, namely:- a) control, develop and manage agricultural, technical and economic research on jute and allied fiber crops and extension of fiber crop production and research; b) produce, test, supply, handle and collect jute seeds of high quality of ecological purity and distribute them to growers, recognized institutions and authorized agencies selected by the Board; c) implement pilot projects in different regions of the country for the purpose of research on jute and similar fiber crops, jute products and accessories; d) demonstrate new varieties of jute developed by the institute for the purpose of expansion of jute and training of farmers for jute cultivation of said variety; e) disseminate any publication relating to jute research; f) provide training to the employees of the Institute on improved methods of cultivation of jute and related fiber crops, etc. Full text English/Bengali Website bdlaws.minlaw.gov.bd References - Legislation Repeals Jute Research Institute Act, 1974 (Act No. XIII of 1974).
