Abstract

This Act creates the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council. This Act establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Council, entitled to the research and development of the country's power and energy sector. It specifies the authorised use of electricity and fuel diversification for the identification, conservation and conversion of energy to ensure the safety of the power and energy sector in the country with a view to long-term planning study of the sector, to achieve excellence through research and new technologies. Specific functions of the Council cover the needs of the short, medium and long-term energy planning and management, monitoring and evaluation; energy research and implementation of annual action plans; energy development, conservation and rational use, etc.
