The Law stresses the importance of using water wisely and efficiently, keeping water bodies clean, using eco-friendly methods for flood prevention, and addressing climate change impacts. It aims to shield water bodies from heat stress and encourage the growth of vegetation along riverbanks when suitable. Additionally, it considers the significance of saving energy, using it efficiently, promoting renewable energy, and expanding distribution networks as outlined in the Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation Act of Baden-Württemberg. The text consists of 128 articles divided into 9 Parts as follows: General provisions, classification of waters, property (1); Management of waters (2); Special water resources provisions (3); Compensation, settlement (4); Survey of waters (5); Competence and proceedings (6); Water charges for use of water (7); Criminal and fine proceedings (8); Transitional and final provisions (9).
