The objectives of the Agency shall be to co-ordinate, administer, allocate and regulate the utilization of the surface water resources of the Awash River Basin. The Agency shall administer the available water of the Basin that flows through territories of more than one Regional Government, construct waterworks, allocate water, implement improved water management methods, monitor groundwater level, construct and regulate irrigation and drainage works, dams, control gates, etc. The Authority shall be managed by a Board and a General Manager.
