Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2015 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Marine fisheries Fishery management and conservation International organization Equipment Monitoring Foreign fishing Abstract This Measure of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), adopted in accordance with Article IX of the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, places obligations on Contracting Parties and Flag States and their fishing vessels with respect to the placing on board and operation of satellite-based monitoring systems. The Measure aims at combatting IUU fishing and to protect rights of port States. Each Contracting Party shall ensure that its fishing vessels, licensed in accordance with Conservation Measure 10-02, are equipped with an Automatic location communicator (ALC) that meets the minimum standards contained in Annex 10-04/C. Official seals or other mechanisms must be of such a type to indicate whether the ALC has been accessed or tampered with. Port State Contracting Parties may issue such seals as requested by the Flag State. Contracting Parties are encouraged to cooperate for this purpose.
