Abstract

The principal Regulations implement provisions of the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997 and in particular prescribe industry bodies for purposes of section 59 of the Act. Section 59 of the Act imposes on the Minister, in exercising the powers of the Minister under Part 3 of the Act, to have regard to any broad policies formulated jointly by prescribed industry bodies. The Australian Meat Industry Council for items (d) and (e) (AUS-MEAT Limited and Red Meat Advisory Council Limited).
