Abstract This Act empowers the Secretary of the Department, subject to provisions of Part 2, to grant a person a licence, in writing, to export meat from Australia or to export live-stock from Australia. The Secretary must not grant an export licence unless satisfied that conditions set out in section 12 are met by applicants. The Secretary may set the prices for exported meat or livestock in specified circumstances (sect. 18). The Secretary may also make any orders that he or she considers would be beneficial for the development, or the further development, in a country or place outside Australia, of a market for meat or live-stock, or of a market for meat or live-stock of a particular quality, exported from Australia.
