Abstract

This Part of Title 50 of the Federal Code of Regulations contains Regulations issued under the authority of the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Cooperative Management Act and the Atlantic Striped Bass Conservation Act, and govern fishing in the EEZ on the Atlantic Coast for species covered by those Acts. Any vessel of the United States that fishes for, possesses, or lands American lobster in or harvested from the EEZ must have been issued and carry on board a valid Federal limited access lobster permit. These Regulations provide for issuance or renewal of such permit and provide in general for (access to) lobster fishing. They also provide for lobster operator and lobster dealer permits. Other provisions concern, among other things, vessel identification, facilitation of enforcement, at-sea sea sampler/observer coverage, lobster management areas, marking and use of fishing gear, exempted fishing, landing of lobster.
