Abstract

This Notice of the President of South Africa, made under section 235 of the Constitution of South Africa, assigns administration of the Environment Conservation Act, 1989, except provisions which fall outside the functional areas or scope of specified in specified provisions of the Constitution, to a competent authority within the jurisdiction of a province as mentioned in section 124 of the Constitution. The Notice also determines that the Act is assigned to provinces as specified in the Schedule to this Notice and makes consequential amendments to the Act.
