Abstract

This Strategy, based on the provisions of article 81 of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, represent the Anti-corruption strategy for the period from 2015 to 2020. The aim of this strategy is to prevent corruption, i.e. to manage its risks in public administration, local and regional self-government units, public bodies, companies in which the state and local and regional self-government units have ownership shares, the private and non-profit sector. This will be achieved through: increasing the integrity, accountability and transparency of public authorities (central and local); strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms in public authorities; stronger cooperation between public authorities and strengthening the capacity in charge of implementing activities aimed at fighting corruption; effective detection and suppression of corruption; consistent and effective implementation of the existing legislative framework in the field of combating and preventing corruption; establishing procedures for managing corruption risks in public authorities; strengthening public awareness of the causes and consequences of corruption and the role of each individual citizen in the prevention of corruption; strengthening the role and cooperation with civil society in the field of combating corruption; developing international cooperation in the field of fight against corruption; strengthening the active role of the media in fostering personal and professional integrity. The Strategy also recognizes the membership of the Republic of Croatia in the international initiative "Partnership for Open Government" since January 2012, with which Croatia has shown determination in efforts to increase the quality and efficiency of public resource management by implementing measures in fiscal transparency, access to information, use of information technology and citizen participation in policy-making.
