Abstract

This reprinted Act provides for the protection of the environment in the area south of 60 degrees south latitude, including all ice shelves in that area. It consists of 57 sections divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Prohibition of Mineral Resource Activities (II); Environmental Impact Assessment (III); Measures for Conservation of Antarctic Fauna and Flora and Protected Areas (IV); Waste Disposal (V); Miscellaneous Provisions (VI).
