Abstract

The purpose of this Announcement is to regulate the importation of meat into Iraq in order to secure that such meat is fit for human consumption. The importer is obliged to submit the following documents to food control centres present at border entries: A regular preliminary health certificate from the country of origin stating that the meats are free of materials detrimental to public health, hormones and diseases; a certificate from the Ministry of Health of the country of origin confirming the fitness for human consumption and how the meat is used in that country; a health certificate confirming that the meat is free from radiation. Meat shall be frozen and shall not contain any nutritive additions which are forbidden or exceed the allowed limits. Article 4 provides for labelling requirements. The meat shall comply with standards on bacteria and ingredients as laid down in article 6. (8 articles)
