Abstract This Law specifies among other, what is to be defined as a "protected animal", regulates the ways and the premises in which experiments should be carried out, sets forth the requirements for obtaining licences and also the so-called "personal licences" in order to perform experiments, prohibits the performance of experiments without such licences. It also establishes an Advisory Committee and prescribes its duties. Penal proceedings and legal actions against persons who trespass the requirements of this Law, in particular those of article 5 ("prohibition of performing experiments without licence") are also provided for in article 22.
