Abstract

This Ordinance seeks to protect domestic and captive animals (including any bird, fish or reptile) from cruel behaviour and other conditions that may harm de welfare of animals. The Ordinance defines offences of cruelty against animals and empowers court to order destruction of maltreated animals, to deprive person convicted of cruelty of ownership of animal or to disqualify persons convicted of cruelty to animals from keeping or having in custody of animals. The Ordinance also prohibits the use of poisoned grain and provides rules for operations on animals.
