For the rest of the regulations see page 4 of the text. Abstract These regulations, consisting of 64 sections divided into three Parts and two Schedules, are made under the Animal Welfare Act 1999. Part 1 establishes animal welfare of and conduct towards the following animals: Cattle, Crabs (rock lobster, crayfish, kōura), Dogs, Goats, Horses, Layer hens, Llama and alpaca, Pigs, and Sheep; Part 2 specifies surgical or painful procedures, such as castration and other procedures; Part 3 establishes strict liability, defences, and other matters.
