This Act enters into force on 1 November 1998.
Abstract

The objective of the present Act is to ensure that animals are protected from suffering and to promote animal welfare. It applies to all animals and lays down rules on how animals shall be treated and handled. The Act contains 68 Sections divided into the following Chapters: 1. Introductory provisions; 2. Animal husbandry; 3. Animal transport; 4. Killing and slaughtering; 5. Activities subject to notification and authorization; 6. Management and supervision; 7. Liability regulations; and 8. Special provisions.
