Article 5 defines the proper breeding and administration of animals. Prohibition of cruelty, etc. to animals and protection measures for abandoned animals are dealt with in articles 6 and 7. In case an experiment using animals is conducted for education, academic research or other scientific purposes, it shall be done with a method which inflicts as little pain as possible.
