Abstract

These Regulations, made section 32 of the under Animal Health Act, implement provisions of the Act with respect to measures to prevent and combat diseases and pests affecting animals, including wild animals and water buffaloes in protected areas. Measures concern designation of exit and entry points, permits to import animals, animal products or restricted material, inspections, health certificate relating to animals, animal products or restricted material for exportation, manufacture of and dealing in vaccines used for testing, vaccination or inoculating, service of notice of declaration of infected place, control of straying animal, quarantine, duty to report notifiable disease and isolation and prevention of access to infected animal, instructions by veterinary official in respect of notifiable diseases, identification and handling of infected animal, prohibition on use of infected milk, dipping and spraying of animals, recording of infected animals. The Act also lays down provisions concerning specific diseases such as newcastle disease, foot and mouth disease, brucellosis, sheep scab, etc.
