Abstract

The Law provides for livestock breeding, welfare, production and reproduction of improved breeds, the compliance of animal feed to quality standards and maximum residue limit, the prevention of contagious diseases and the measures to control outbursts of zoonosis, the inspections of livestock, animal products and animal feed to be produced, sold or traded locally and internationally, the release of certificates and the related fees, the prevention of cruelty to animals. The objectives of this Law are as follows: (a) to carry out animal health and development work; (b) to promote livestock development; (c) to prevent outbreak of contagious disease in animals and to control the outbreak systematically when occurs; (d) to inspect imported animal, animal product and animal feed; (e) to issue recommendation certificate concerning animal, animal product and animal feed for export; (f) to protect animals by law from being ill-treated.
