Abstract

This Act requires the Commonwealth Department of Community and Cultural Affairs to implement a Food Stamp Program in the Northern Mariana Islands in accordance with the provisions of the U.S. Federal Food Stamp Act of 1977. The State Agency shall: (a) adopt Rules and Regulations necessary to carry out the Food Stamp Program which shall have the effect of law; (b) cooperate with the Federal Government and do all things necessary to continue the eligibility under the Food Stamp Program; and to carry out its duties in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Act also defines unlawful acts by persons receiving food aid.
