It revises the current system of quarantine for purposes of control of diseases that come with the importation of animals. One of the declared aims of the Act is the protection of the ecosystem of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Commonwealth Veterinarian is granted greater flexibility in deciding the appropriate measures for the control of diseases.
