Abstract

This Act amends Chapter 1 of Title 27 of the Palau National Code so as to increase penalties for illegal foreign fishing to a level similar to other States within the Micronesian region (§ 182) and to include fish aggregating devices in the definitions (§ 102) as a method of fishing in Palau's waters. The definition of fishing is modified so as to include: "placing, searching for, or recovering fish aggregating devices" (§ 1203). Tampering with, destroying, or interfering in any way with an automatic location communicator is one of the offences for which the penalty is increased.
