Until such time in New Zealand, Volume 1 (Food Standards Code which was published by the National Health and Medical Research Council in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, No. P 27, on 27 August 1987) and Volume 2 operate as alternatives to the New Zealand Food Regulations 1984. Therefore, for New Zealand purposes, food must comply with the New Zealand Food Regulations 1984 or Volume 1 or Volume 2, but not a combination of any two or three. Volume 1 and relevant regulations within the New Zealand Food Regulations 1984 are repealed when Volume 2 will be into effect.
