It regulates the planting and growing of agricultural crops, the control of plant diseases and other related purposes. The Law establishes the State Board of Agriculture to advise the State Commissioner for Agriculture generally on matters relating to agriculture, the framing of subsidiary regulations, other matters conferred on it by the Commissioner, etc. The Law makes extensive provisions on the constitution, powers and duties of the Board. Furthermore, the Law states the powers of the Commissioner and empowers the Commissioner to make regulations relating to agriculture. It contains substantial provisions on plant diseases and some penal provisions. Importantly, the law has led to the creation of some regulations and guidelines concerning the control of plant diseases.
