The legislation includes: (a) the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Acts 1934 to 1936, the Slaughter of Animals Acts 1935 to 2000, the Noxious Weeds Act 1936, the Pigs and Bacon Acts 1935 to 1988, the Live Stock (Artificial Insemination) Act 1947, the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Acts 1980 and 1998 and the Food Standards Act 1974; and (b) Regulations implementing Community legislation concerning, among other things, animal health and welfare, plant reproduction, trade in agricultural products and pesticide residues.
