Abstract

This Regulation establishes Zonal Competitive Agricultural Research and Development Fund, which shall include among its objectives the improvement of agricultural research quality in Uganda and the strengthening of the national agricultural research system (NARS) through a better involvement of different stakeholders focusing on zonal issues. For the purpose of the operations of the Zonal Competitive Agricultural Research and Development Fund, this Regulation divides Uganda into agro-ecological zones and provides that for each zone a Zonal Competitive Agricultural Research and Development Committee shall be established. A Committee shall, among other things: (a) set zonal agricultural research priorities; (b) approve zonal agricultural research plans and programmes; and (c) ensure implementation of zonal agricultural research plans and programmes.
