Abstract

This Act provides for the application of certain laws relating to agricultural matters to certain territories which form part of the national territory of the Republic of South Africa; the repeal of certain laws which apply in those territories; and for matters connected therewith. The following laws are extended: Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947; Livestock Brands Act, 1962; Fencing Act, 1963; Wine and Spirit Control Act, 1970; Subdivision of Agricultural Land Act, 1970; Livestock Improvement Act, 1977; Designated Areas Development Act, 1979; Cooperatives Act, 1981; Veterinary and Para-Veterinary Professions Act, 1982; Perishable Products Export Control Act, 1983; Agricultural Pests Act, 1983; Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act, 1983; Animal Diseases Act, 1984; Liquor Products Act, 1989; Agricultural Products Standards Act, 1990; Agricultural Produce Agents Act, 1992; South African Abattoir Corporation Act, 1992; Abattoir Hygiene Act, 1992; Agricultural Development Fund Act, 1993. These laws now apply to the former Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Venda and Ciskei, and the territories of the former self-governing territories of Gazankulu, KaNgwane, KwaNdebele, KwaZulu, Lebowa and Quaqua, as they existed immediately prior to the commencement of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993.
