Abstract: The purpose of this Act is to promote, develop, regulating and controlling the production and marketing of agricultural products within Saskatchewan. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause, relating to various terms employed therein such as, for example, “agency”, “agricultural product”, “appeal committee”, “development board”, “development commission”, “licence”, “marketing”, “marketing board”, “plan”, “processing”, etc. According to article 4 the Lieutenant Governor in Council may: a) establish a plan to promote and develop the production and marketing of an agricultural product; b) constitute a development commission; c) authorize the development commission to fund the plan. The text consists of 47 articles divided into 9 Parts as follows: Preliminary matters (I); Development Commissions, Development Boards and Marketing Boards (II); Council (III); Minister’s supervisory powers (IV); Agri Food Appeal Committee (V); General matters (VI); Regulations (VIII); Repeal, transitional and consequential (VIII); Coming into force (IX).
