The Agreement enters into force from the date of signature.
Abstract

The Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic North Ossetia-Alania have agreed as follows: 1) To carry out common state policy in the field of environmental protection and ensuring ecological safety. 2) Land and other natural resources are used and protected in the Republic North Ossetia-Alania as the basis of vital activity of its people. 3) To provide for common regulation in the field of licensing of some types of natural resources. 4) The Parties, for the purpose of ensuring environmental protection must secure the observance of environmental legislation and enforce the liability for its violation; keep record of natural resources and their use and carry out environmental monitoring; to make arrangements for reproduction, conservation and renewal of wildlife species and biodiversity; develop and maintain the system of protected areas, natural reserves and National Parks, and to restrict economic and other types of activity in the adjoining areas; to carry out state ecological expertise of productive forces, investment and other types of projects and economic development programs; to keep state Red Books. 5) The Parties, for the purpose of carrying out common policy in the field of environmental protection and use of natural resources must co-ordinate adopted environmental legislative acts, ecological norms and standards; elaborate and carry out joint programs and projects in the field of environmental protection and ecological safety; make all-round assessment of ecological consequences of economic and other types of activity carried out on their territories; set up and support common ecological information system. 6) The competent authority of the Parties, for the purpose of carrying out joint plenary powers institute Co-ordinating Council. They can set up common institutions on the basis of separate agreements.
