The present Agreement enters into force on 16 May 1999.
Abstract

The present Agreement between the Federal Government and the Federal State Burgenland lays down provisions relating to the conservation and further development of the National Park “Neusiedler See – Seewinkel”. The operation and maintenance of the National Park are based on the following objectives to: 1) promote and further develop the area of the “Neusiedler See-Seewinkel” as a natural and scenic valuable area of national and international importance; 2) secure for this area characteristic landscape, as well as its flora and fauna, including its habitats; 3) further develop the National Park with a view to the awareness and acceptance of the population and in compliance with the rules of the National Park of the World Conservation Union (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources – IUCN); 4) further develop the cross-border National Park on the existing natural conditions with the Republic of Hungary; 5) perceive the possibilities of utilization of the area for education and recreation, and for purposes of scientific research. Article 5 specifies that Burgenland has established the National Park Corporation “Neusiedler See-Seewinkel” as a body of public law, being responsible for the planning, conservation, running, supervisions, support and expansion.
