Agreement among the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Health, the Regions and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano on the adoption of three-year National Plans of sanitary and environmental surveillance on possible effects that may arise out of the use of phytosanitary products

Abstract

The Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Health, on behalf of the Central Government, have concluded with the Regions and the Autonomous Provinces the present agreement for the purpose of arranging the elaboration of national plans, to be implemented on a three-year basis, relative to the control of those effects that may derive from the use of phytosanitary products. As referred to in article 1, the following three national plans shall be adopted: (a) Plan for checking and assessing possible harmful effects on human beings that may arise out of the use of phytosanitary product, particularly the exposure to residues of active substances of such products in foodstuffs, beverages and in the environment; (b) Plan for checking and assessing the effects on vulnerable environmental areas that may be caused by the utilization of phytosanitary products; (c) Plan for checking and assessing the effects that might derive from the simultaneous presence in the same foodstuff or beverage of residues of different active substances, giving particular regard to infant foods. The above-mentioned plans shall be implemented through special programmes to be adopted by the competent authorities in accordance with articles 2, 3 and 4 of the Agreement.
