Abstract This National Drug Action Plan is a nationwide sectoral document that is part of the Afghan government's commitment to further good governance, economic development, security, and stability through comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable approach to combating illegal drug production, trade, and usage. It aims at achieving the following three main goals (i) decrease the cultivation of opium poppy; (ii) decrease the production and trafficking of opiates; and (iii) reduce the demand for illicit drugs in Afghanistan and increase the provision of treatment for users.
