Abstract This Administrative Decree establishes the classification of dangerous pesticides in order to protect environment and human health. It consists of 31 articles and 10 Annexes specifying different toxicity of pesticides (from class I: high toxicity to class IV: low toxicity). It prescribes tests to be carried out on these chemical substances, requirements to be satisfied for registering pesticides by class into the Ibama Register, etc. This Order also establishes controls to be carried out and sanctions to be paid by offenders in compliance with Act No. 6.938/81 (arts. 14 and 15), Act No. 7.802/89 (arts. 15 and 17) and Decree No. 98.816/90 (arts. 74-77).
