Abstract

The amendments to the principal Act are made as a consequence of the implementation of legislation of the European Communities and the adjustment by Finland to the common market. A new Chapter 4(a) outlines hygiene requirements for the trade in meat within the European Community. The new Chapter 4(b) concerns the supervision of the trade in meat with third countries. Several other provisions are amended so as to provide for the new arrangement. These amendments concern mainly tasks of national and local authorities.
