Abstract The amendments to the principal Act are made in consequence of the implementation of legislation of the European Communities and the adjustment to of Finland to the common market. Section 2 concerning the application sphere of the Act is amended, so as to include egg products originating in other EC member states. A new Chapter 4a outlines hygiene requirements for the trade in egg products within the European Community. The new Chapter 4b concerns the supervision of the trade in egg products with third countries. Several other provisions are amended so as to provide for the new arrangement. These amendments concern mainly tasks of national and local authorities.
