Abstract This Act shall apply to veterinarians who are not employed by an administrative body, whereby a veterinarian may, following an application, be appointed as the official veterinarian. The Government regulates the issuance of such permits. Anyone who has been appointed may perform any management tasks as an official veterinarian in accordance with the provisions of EU regulations or any other national legislation. The Act implements Regulation (1986:223), specifically articles 11-12, 15-17, 20-22 and 26 with regard to criteria for being appointed official veterinarian, training and obligations.
