Abstract

The regional forestry centres and the central development institute shall actively protect the biodiversity of forest and supervise the use of forest resources (sect. 1). The number of regional centres and their precise tasks shall be decided by the Council of Ministers (sect. 2). The central institute called "Tapio" shall provide advice to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and other institutions involved in forestry with respect to the economic development of forest resources (sect. 3). Both the central institute and the regional centres shall be subject to supervision by the Ministry (sect. 4). Both kind of institutions shall have a board of directors (sects. 9 and 10). The remaining provisions deal with financing (sect. 11), fees for services (sect. 12), bookkeeping and accounting (sect. 13), the pension fund (sect. 14), inspectors within the organizations (sect. 15), privacy (sect. 16), and entry into force.
