Abstract This Act, which is composed of 22 articles, establishes the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing which is the state institution responsible for testing and registration of cultivated plants, experiments on plant varieties and legal protection of plant varieties. In particular, the Centre prepares and provides: (a) information on registered varieties; (b) botanical descriptions of registered varieties; (c) lists of registered agricultural, vegetable and fruit varieties; (d) descriptive lists of varieties, including information on quality and usable properties; (e) information on results of experiments on varieties. The Centre cooperates with foreign institutions dealing with registration of varieties and legal protection of varieties, with International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV), European Commission and Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO). The Centre informs European Commission and member countries on all matters relating to registration of plant varieties.
