Abstract The present Act, which is composed of 19 articles, establishes institutions competent at tasks resulting from European Union legislation permitting voluntary participation of organizations in the Community eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS). The national eco-management and audit scheme consists of the Minister of Environment, General Directorate for Environmental Protection and Polish Centre for Accreditation. The General Directorate for Environmental Protection is obliged to keep the national register of organizations registered in the EMAS. The register contains the following information: unique number, name, address, date of registration, date of verification, notes concerning suspension of the registration, notes concerning cancellation of the organization and environmental declaration of an organization.
