The Act also applies to the official inspection, import, export and transit of meat and other products of animal origin. The Veterinary Service shall be responsible for implementation of the procedures and rules established by or pursuant to a State Decree for slaughter, inspection, processing, the processing, packaging, repacking, packaging quality control, facilities, transport, storage and technical and hygiene standards. Duties of the Chief of the Service and veterinary inspectors are specified. Control shall be in part based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
